Webサーバを設定します
まず、ドキュメントルートを設定します。私の場合は一つの開発サーバで複数のサイトを動かしているため、apacheのconfファイルに今回のMagentoサイト用のドキュメントルートを設定します。
今回はドキュメントルートをmagento1とします。
apacheのconfファイルを編集します。
vi /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
下記を追記します。(portは8093である必要はありません。)

Lissenポートを追記します。
Listen 8093
apacheを再起動します。
service httpd restart
ドキュメントルートにデータを配置します。
解凍したMagento本体を解凍し、ドキュメントルートに配置します。解凍後のフォルダは何層にもなっていて、ルートになるべきフォルダが深いところに埋まってしまっている場合があります。
そんなときはindex.phpが入っている箇所がルートになるので、切り貼りでドキュメントルートに移します。
サンプルデータを所定の位置にコピー
先の手順でサンプルデータを解凍し、SQLを実行しましたが、SQLファイルのほかにmediaとskinというフォルダが含まれています。
まずmediaフォルダをルートにコピーします。既にmediaフォルダが存在しているのでマージをします。
次にskinフォルダをたどっていくとこの中にもmediaというフォルダがあるので、これを/skin/frontend/base/default/images/の下にコピーします。
